How many corticosteroid injections can I receive?

It is recommended maximum 2-3 injections per joint per year, spaced at least 6-8 weeks apart. Excessive use can weaken tendons and cartilage, so it is reserved for situations where the benefit outweighs the risk.

Are there side effects of corticosteroid injections?

Local effects can include temporary pain at the injection site (corticosteroid flare), transient facial flushing, or slight elevation of blood sugar in diabetics. They are safe when used appropriately and with the proper frequency.

When will I feel relief after the injection?
